FAQs & POLICIES
What to Bring
Please bring your own bed linen (pillows, pillow cases, top and bottom sheets, comforter/blankets), bath/beach towels, 1-ply or septic safe toilet paper, garbage bags, paper towels, and personal items.
Personal Preference if following COVID Precautions
Please be mindful and respectful of those wishing to follow COVID protocols such as mask wearing, maintaining at least 2 meter safe distance from other guests and, cleaning / sanitizing hands. As a precaution, you may wish to bring your own personal beach chairs, life jackets, beach toys, fishing rods, personal protective equipment, hand sanitizers.
Check-in / Checkout
Check-in is strictly AFTER 4 pm. Check-out is strictly NO LATER than 10 am. so that Forest Rock staff have sufficient time to clean and sanitize the cottages.
Keeping the Property Clean
Please keep the property clean and do not litter. Absolutely NO GARBAGE, including PPE and cigarette butts, is to be left inside/outside the cabin or on the beach/public walkways. Garbage must be bagged in your cottage and placed in the large garbage bin in the back parking lot. Do not leave garbage outside your cottage to attract unwanted animals.
We will not be collecting alcohol/beer/wine bottles/cans; please take them home/dispose of them.
Please dispose of your beach garbage in the trash cans provided.
Deposits
50% deposit is required to reserve your cottage. Methods of Payment include etransfer, Cash, Interac, Visa or MC. Full payment is required at check in. No adjustments for late arrivals or early departures.
Refund Policy
60 days notice is required for a refund, less a $150 cancellation fee. We will gladly apply your full deposit towards a new booking for the current season, subject to availability.
Cleaning Fee
Cottages must be cleaned prior to Check Out or an additional fee of $175 plus HST will be charged.
Loss/Damage Liability
Cottagers and campers are fully responsible for any damages and/or loss to property including and not limited to fines and all charges resulting from starting a camp fire when there are campfire restrictions or a band. Management reserves the right to terminate any reservation at any time.
Tenting Policy
Tents are not permitted on cottage sites, except for open dining tent. Forest Rock Management must approve location of dining tents prior to setup to avoid damaging underground piping.
Smoking / Vaping Policy
Smoking/Vaping tobacco/marijuana is strictly prohibited in cottages, public buildings and beach area.
Quiet Time
11:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. Forest Rock is a family resort and excessive noise or unruly behavior is not permitted at any time. Management reserves the right to terminate any reservation at any time.
Parking
One per cottage provided at central parking lot. Please inform us if more parking spots are required. Extra fee of $50 may apply for each additional approved parking spot.
Boat trailers must be parked at Marina (less than one km away; charges may apply) where your boat can be launched.
Pets
Forest Rock is pet friendly. Please be respectful of other guests and CLEAN UP after your dog. Pets MUST be on a leash at ALL times. Pets are NOT permitted on the beach. Please ask about water access for your pets. There is a $100.00 charge per pet.
Motor Boat Rentals
A boating license is required. Boat rentals must be returned by 8:00 p.m. A $200.00 security deposit is required from Forest Rock guests. For public rentals, a $1000.00 security deposit is required. All rates are HST applicable. Gas and oil is extra.
Swim At Your Own Risk
No Lifeguard on duty. Swim at your own risk. Children under 16 years of age MUST be supervised by an adult at all times. There is absolutely NO fishing or boating in swimming area. Persons using any floatation device, including pedal boats, must always wear life jackets and, have a boating safety kit with them. Due to Covid-19, please bring your own life jacket.
Camp Fires & Fireworks
Camp fires are allowed in private fire pits subject to Muskoka Fire Department fire rating. Fire wood can be purchased at the office. All fires must be extinguished with water when not supervised. Children under 16 years of age MUST be supervised by an adult at all times. Absolutely no camp files allowed if Muskoka Fire Department declares a fire ban (refer to Fire Ban below).
Fireworks are NOT PERMITTED as per Muskoka Township. Cottagers and campers will be responsible for any and all fines and property charges resulting from shooting fireworks.
Fire Ban
All cottagers and campers must abide by the Muskoka Forest Fire Danger Rating. If a fire ban is issued by the Muskoka Fire Department, then NO camp fires are allowed. Cottagers and campers will be responsible for any and all fines and property charges resulting from starting a camp fire when there are fire restrictions or a band.
